On 21 April 2026, Saarland University showcased BIOPYRANIA during its Campus Day (Campustag), an outreach event designed to introduce high school students from the Saarland region to university education, research and career opportunities in science and engineering.

As part of the event, BIOPYRANIA was presented as an example of how biotechnology and circular bioeconomy research are helping address some of today’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Students had the opportunity to discover how renewable biomass can be transformed into valuable bio-based products through innovative microbial processes, gaining insight into the real-world impact of European research and innovation projects.

By featuring BIOPYRANIA during Campus Day, Saarland University continues to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers, encouraging young people to explore careers in biotechnology while raising awareness of the role that research plays in building a more sustainable future.

Engaging students at an early stage is an important step towards fostering future talent and ensuring continued innovation in the bio-based sector.
