The BIOPOLY Cluster is pleased to announce that the FURIOUS project has joined its growing community of Horizon Europe initiatives working to accelerate innovation in sustainable, bio-based polymers.

Established in line with the European Commission’s vision for collaboration under the Horizon Europe Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), the BIOPOLY Cluster promotes cooperation among complementary projects to enhance knowledge exchange, create synergies, and maximise the impact of research and innovation in the field of bio-based polymers.

Funded by the CBE JU programme, FURIOUS is developing a new generation of versatile polymers derived from 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (2,5-FDCA). The project aims to expand the range of innovative single-material bio-based alternatives to conventional plastics by designing materials that meet the demanding performance requirements of applications including medical and electronic packaging, the automotive sector, and underwater devices.

The addition of FURIOUS further strengthens the BIOPOLY Cluster’s network, creating new opportunities for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge among projects committed to advancing sustainable polymer solutions.

The BIOPYRANIA consortium warmly welcomes FURIOUS to the cluster and looks forward to working together to foster innovation, build new synergies, and contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and circular bio-based economy.
